The Fiji Dive Trip Report!
As flights depart Fiji bound for the United States, Hong Kong, Bermuda, and Australia, we look back on an incredible week spent on
Taveuni Island.
Fiji is known for its rich culture and its stunning landscapes, both above and below the water, and we were so lucky to experience it all while staying at Paradise Taveuni and diving the beautiful Rainbow Reef.
The trip started on a high. We were greeted with foot massages, stunning rooms complete with outdoor showers, and an immediate dive on the fish-filled house reef at Paradise. When 7:30 the next morning rolled around, a few divers groaned that it was too early, that was until they got in the water. Suddenly, no one was complaining anymore. The reef was bursting with life: healthy coral, sharks, manta rays, and hundreds and hundreds of fish. That early start was totally worth it.
On day two, we made our way to the Great White Wall, a world-famous dive site made up of a deep wall completely covered in white soft coral. This coral isn’t bleached; it’s just naturally white, and completely healthy. The sight set the bar high, but every dive lived up to it. At safety stops, fish swirled around us like confetti. Currents brought in reef sharks, baby sharks, and even a manta ray!
After diving, we never had to wait long because meals were ready right away. We devoured both local Fijian cuisine and international dishes, and sipped some of the best smoothies we’ve ever had. Our afternoons were filled with card games, shore dives, swimming, and resort activities like making traditional Fijian ceviche and learning how to cook using a lovo oven. We also ventured inland to visit the international dateline, which runs right through Taveuni Island, and slid down a natural rock waterslide hidden in the jungle.
Our final dive day was brought to an end with a picnic on the beach, complete with hermit crab racing, bocce with coconuts, baseball and rugby, Fiji style.
On our final two nights, we had Fiji Night and a competitive trivia evening to test our general knowledge. Nights like these are what we remember most. It’s the people we travel with who make the memories truly unforgettable. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who joined us in Fiji for making this trip so special. We can’t wait to laugh, eat, and dive with you again soon.
