Specialities

A.W.A.R.E Coral Conservation – £125

If you enjoy diving or snorkeling on the splendid coral reefs around the world then you will definitely love the Coral Conservation Specialty. Find out all about the delicate systems that keep a reef in healthy balance, and how coral reproduces and grows. Learn the value of the reefs resources and the threats that face it.

You can also learn how to survey coral health and colour on your future dive or snorkel excursion, adding to data collected by divers and snorkelers all over the world.

A.W.A.R.E Fish Identification – £125

Make the reef come alive by taking A.W.A.R.E Fish ID Specialty. Learn the key to identifying creatures of the aquatic world by their distinctive shapes, markings, colours and behaviours. When you know the name of each fish you see, there’ll suddenly seem to be twice as many fish around!

Boat Diver – £155

Drop right in with the Boat Diver Specialty. Learn your way around a boat, the best place to stow your gear and how to enter and exit the water. Boat diving can give you direct access to sites that shore divers might not reach such as pristine reefs, historic wrecks, drop right in – straight over your target dive site – what could be better? Boat diver specialty makes sure that you have a fun and comfortable experience when on boats through developing your knowledge and skills.

Deep Diver – £250

Expand your range of diving depths to 40m and open up new sites and wrecks for your choices in diving! Learn about the extra considerations that come with this type of diving and how we dive safely at depth. This course requires that you are Advanced Open Water or equivalent before commencing.

Digital Underwater Photographer (DUP) – £155

Capture your diving memories! Discover how to improve the colour, sharpness and positioning of your photos. With the combination of theory and practical, this course will probably also improve your surface photography too! We have expert photography instructors on hand to give you great hints and tips.

Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) – £175

Go further with ease, see more with less effort, or go for action and adventure with a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV). Learn how to maintain the Propulsion Vehicle, how to use it safely and how to get the most out of it, having a fun dive without harming aquatic life.

Drift Diver – £155

The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course teaches you how to enjoy going with the flow as you dive down rivers and use ocean currents to glide along. It feels like flying – except that you’re underwater using scuba equipment. Drift diving can be relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. If this sound like fun, then the Drift Diver course is for you.

Dry Suit Diver – £155 (£95 with Open Water Diver Course)

A must for diving in Scotland. Stay warm and toasty all year round on your dives. For temperate climates this might make the difference between a short summer and a whole year round for diving! This course is especially good for those who might consider technical diving.

Enriched Air Diver – £125

Get longer in the blue! Enriched air lowers the level of nitrogen you absorb during the dive and can mean longer dives, or shorter waiting times until your next dive! Learn how to safely plan and perform dives using Enriched Air – dealing with the special considerations that this kind of diving requires.

Emergency O2 Provider – £125

Knowing how and when to use emergency oxygen is a great skill to have and means you’re ready to help others should the need arise. Becoming a PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider lets you breathe easy knowing that you can recognize scuba diving illnesses treatable with emergency oxygen, and are prepared to offer aid.

Ice Diver – £325

If extreme, unusual and challenging scuba diving scenarios appeal to you, try diving under the ice. Ice diving is one of the most adventurous scuba specialties because you confront conditions and see beauty few others ever experience. Plus, you might get a chance to play with your exhaled bubbles on the bottom of the ice. Flash your PADI Ice Diver certification card to get instant respect, and usually a lot of questions from other divers about what it’s like under the ice.

(Min age 18 yrs & AOWD, 4 dive course – 2 days)

Night Diver – £195

Delve into the dark and discover a whole new world of diving! Float as if in space, marvel at the beautiful beams of light piercing through the evening water. Search out new critters that come out when the sun goes down. Learn the techniques for communicating after dark, handling torches and having a safe and enjoyable night dive.

Peak Performance Bouyancy (PPB) – £155

Perfect your control of movement underwater. Reduce your weighting and your air use by reducing drag and effort in your dives. Learn how to hover effortlessly, helping you to spot more creatures, create better photos and advance your diving for specialties such as wreck diving.

Project A.W.A.R.E Specialty – £125

This classroom based course is enjoyable and informative for divers and non-divers alike. Learn all about the aquatic world, its value and importance, the threats that it faces and what we can do to protect this beautiful resource. Find out more about the food chains of the oceans, their productivity and all of the benefits we reap from the sea. Based in the classroom this is perfect for continuing learning if you cannot get into the water for a while.

Search & Recovery Diver – £250

Search out your passion, claim your prize! Learn how to perform search patterns and lift objects from the depths. Find out about lift bags and knots that will make your recovery project a success. This is a great course for more advanced divers who fancy a challenge.

Sidemount Diver – £300

Having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting?

Surface Marker Bouy Diver – £155

Surface marker buoys (SMBs) allow scuba divers to mark boundaries for mapping or search and recovery, alert boat traffic, or provide a line as a visual reference for ascending divers. During two dives, learn the proper techniques and protocols for using surface marker buoys and delayed surface marker buoys (DSMBs) in the local area.

Underwater Naturalist – £155

Know more about the world you see when you dive. Find out about groupings and families of underwater species, how the different plants and animals interact. Find out how you can act responsibly around aquatic organisms and your role in preserving life in this eco-system.

Underwater Navigator – £185

Find your way in diving. Learn how to navigate using both compass precision and natural navigation techniques. Make sure you always hit your dive target with ease – giving you more time where you want to be. Surface practice and underwater application will enhance your skills so that you can find your way easily in even low visibility.

(Min age 10 yrs & OWD, 3 dive course – 1 day)

Wreck Diver – £250

Whether purpose-sunk as an artificial reef for scuba divers, or lost as the result of an accident, wrecks are fascinating windows to the past. Ships, airplanes and even cars are fascinating to explore and usually teem with aquatic life. Each wreck dive offers a chance for discovery, potentially unlocking a mystery or spying something others have missed.
